LIGHTGUARD Who We Are |
|
Gideon Robert Fuller formed the original LightGuard at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse North Carolina to assist in recovery from the devastation of hurricane Hugo in September 1989. LightGuard members and volunteers assisted relief and recovery following Hurricanes Andrew, which hit Florida in 1992, Floyd in 1999, and the multi state response began in 2004 to Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jean, and Katrina. The LightGuard in 2010 received 501(c)3 non profit recognition as Gideon’s Lighthouse and is a worldwide network of individuals, organizations, and businesses, meeting the challenges of recovering, rebuilding, and restoring economic equilibrium to communities impacted by hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and other emergencies. The LightGuard is people, partnerships, and long term commitment to emergency preparedness and sustainable communities. Through education, technology, training, and resource conservation, in homes, schools, churches, business, and lifestyles, Gideon’s Lighthouse is charting a course to secure green communities. |
